Ben’s Ohio Story

I am a lifelong Ohioan, and reside in franklin with my wife, Kristi. While growing up, my sisters and I learned the value and importance of hard work. Our parents worked hard and made sacrifices to ensure we had the best lives possible. There is nobody I know who works harder than my dad.

From a very early age, I knew I wanted to make a difference and help people, especially in Ohio. To me, there is no greater state in the country. When I was 12, I attended my first Ohio State football game with my grandpa. The game was at Michigan State, and we went with a few family friends from my hometown. One of the people we went with was a gentleman named John. At the time, I couldn’t think of a bigger OSU fan than John. One of the main things he was known around town for was handing out buckeyes to everyone he saw, especially people not from Ohio. I always thought this was a neat idea, and I always have some buckeyes to hand out when traveling for work or the Army.

In 2005 I graduated from Edon Northwest School and chose to pursue a degree in Political Science. Between 2005 and 2009, I attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. I was accepted into Wright State University’s International and Comparative Politics program in 2011 and graduated with my Master’s in 2014.

Being a lifelong believer in service, I enlisted in Ohio Army National Guard in January 2010. I chose the OANG because it allowed me to serve both the people of the United States and those of our great state. During my 13 years in the Army, I have served in multiple units, including the 323rd Military Police Company (Toledo, Ohio), HHC 1-148th Infantry (Walbridge, Ohio), Charlie Co 1-148th Infantry (Tiffin, Ohio) Alpha BTRY 1-134th FA RGT (Delaware Ohio). After serving six years in the Ohio Army National Guard, I transitioned to the United States Army Reserves and am with a reserve unit out of WPAFB.

I am currently a consultant for a Management Consulting and Research Services firm called Country Intelligence Group, working as a contractor for the Department of Defense. I am also a proud member of the Greater Dayton Young Republicans and have served on the Franklin Civil Service Commission since 2021. I also enjoy running and participating in many local events, including the United States Air Force Half Marathon, Miamisburg Turkey Trot, Buckeye 4 Miler, and Free 4 Miler on the Fourth in Miamisburg.

My wife Kristi and I have called Southwest Ohio home since 2011. I met Kristi in December of that year. Kristi is originally from Fairfield and has called Southwest Ohio home her whole life. We were married in 2015 and moved to Miamisburg with our dog Charlie. In 2019 Kristi and I purchased our first home and moved to Franklin. We proudly call Franklin our home and want to give back to a community that has given us so much. We hope to help others in the 55th Ohio House District write their own Ohio Story.
