November 11, 2006
Today was Ben's final event of 2006, as he gave the special keynote address to the Junior State of America conference in Cleveland. Usually, a governor, U.S. Senator or Representative has this special privilege. Ben was deeply honored to speak to students from as nearby as Euclid, Ohio, to as far as Tennessee. After his 40 minute keynote about campaign lessons and encouraging youth participation, "Poli Sci 101," he took questions and received encouragement for the future from the audience.

ELECTION DAY! Ben voted in the morning at the Florence Township Precinct, then went to Edon Northwest School to speak to teachers and students there. He and his campaign manager spent some time waving and holding signs on busy intersections such as in Bryan. Finally, at 7:30pm, a nice sized group assembled at the EHS Auditeria for Ben's Victory for Ohio party. Some traveled several hours to be at the event. The final results came in... 45.31% for Ben McCullough (43% in Defiance, 44% in Fulton, and 50% in Williams County). Ben gave a speech and thanked supporters, along with his manager and treasurer. Today, Ben McCullough honored our fallen heroes from the Iraqi and Afghan conflicts in a special memorial at the park in Archbold in Fulton County. After a few brief words for our troops, Ben helped other local citizens read the names of those who gave their lives for our country during the past year.

Today, Ben McCullough met people at a hog roast in downtown Defiance. Later this evening, Ben and volunteers passed out candy, literature, and talked to voters and their families in the annual Defiance Halloween Parade! It was chilly, but not cold enough to stop thousands of people from attending! Ben even got in the spirit of the season by wearing a costume. As a special treat to kids, McCullough also created the Ben for Ohio Holiday Contest, where one special child will receive a $50 Christmas gift from Ben himself!

Tonight, Ben McCullough addressed a large group of voters and several media outlets at the annual Williams County Dinner in Edgerton. He spoke to people face-to-face, then gave a speech while everyone finished their meals. The turnout was great!

Ben McCullough was privileged to have the honor of giving the keynote address at Defiance College's annual political training workshop. The theme was "My Life in Political Science 101." He stayed for the entire day, listening to students from 4 high schools and 2 college groups (all from Defiance County) present about current issues and finding policy solutions. He was very impressed with their hard work. Congratulations to all of the schools, particularly Tinora High School and Defiance College History Majors, who won in their divisions!

Twenty days... and we'll be electing Ben our next State Representative! To celebrate this milestone, Ben McCullough visited a local school in Williams County to discuss his educational vision, then went to the Delta Senior Center to speak about the concerns of our seniors. Ben McCullough visited the Fulton County Senior Center in Wauseon today, giving a speech and answering questions that were broadcast on Fulton County's cable station. Ben McCullough accepted a very special honor to give the keynote address to high school and college students at Defiance College duing this year's annual Political Training Workshop on October 25. He will also be part of their professional political panel. It's about getting young people interested about current issues and politics in general. This, along with other speeches at American Legion Buckeye Boys State and other schools this year, shows that Ben is interested in fulfilling his goal toward educating and inspiring people about government again, especially those of his own generation. Today, Ben McCullough had a busy day! He, along with his family and campaign manager, marched in the very large Swanton Corn Festival Parade in Fulton County. This wraps up his tour of parades in the 74th District for the summer. This evening, he spoke to and met voters at the first Williams County Hog Roast to be put on by the Central Committee, at the Montpelier Fairgrounds Pavillion. Many great ideas were shared as the participants enjoyed a classic Northwest Ohio summer tradition!

Senior Days with Ben kicked off this week as Ben McCullough visited 2 Senior Centers in Defiance County: Defiance City on Monday, and Hicksville on Tuesday. He was very well received!

Today, the 3-day Edon Days celebration in Ben's hometown wrapped up. The campaign presence culminated on August 12 at 2pm, when Ben McCullough, friends, and his signature campaign truck greeted the people of Edon during the parade.
